We All Belong — Recycled Newspaper Statement Bracelet
We All Belong is a celebration of unity, belonging, and the beauty created when our differences come together.
Handmade from recycled pages of The New York Times Book Review, this statement bracelet features more than 1,200 individually handmade newspaper beads in black, white, flesh tone, yellow, and brown. The colors were intentionally chosen to represent people of different races and backgrounds—each distinct, yet woven together to create something beautiful.
As a Black woman in America, this piece holds special meaning for me. We All Belong reflects my belief that every one of us has a place in this country and a role in shaping what it can become. Just as no single bead creates the bracelet, our country is made richer and more beautiful by the many people, histories, cultures, and experiences that come together within it.
Each tiny newspaper bead is handmade and then carefully stitched together by hand on comfortable elastic cord, creating an intricate, richly textured surface. Fragments of the original newspaper remain visible along the edges, honoring the material's previous life and the transformation at the heart of my work.
Measuring approximately 2.7" high with a 6.8" circumference, We All Belong is a bold piece of wearable art with a message at its heart:
Different colors. Different stories. One beautiful whole. We all belong.
Because authentic recycled newspaper is used, variations in printed text, color, and pattern make every bracelet one of a kind.
