Comics & Sudoku Recycled Newspaper Bracelet

A little color, a little logic, and a whole new way to read the newspaper.

Handmade from recycled newspaper comic strips and Sudoku puzzles, this bracelet brings together two familiar—and very different—parts of the daily paper in one colorful piece of wearable art.

Each tiny bead is individually handmade from recycled newspaper. Black-and-white Sudoku puzzle beads reveal scattered numbers and grid lines, while beads made from colorful comic strips introduce unexpected flashes of pink, blue, yellow, orange, green and purple. Hand-stitched together, the contrasting papers create a lively mosaic of numbers, patterns and color.

Look closely and you can still discover clues to the materials' former lives—a number from a Sudoku square, the edge of a puzzle grid, or a tiny fragment of comic-strip artwork. From a distance, those recognizable elements become something entirely different: an intricate pattern with an almost woven, textile-like appearance.

The beads are hand-stitched on comfortable elastic cord, making the bracelet lightweight, flexible and easy to wear. Measuring approximately 1" high with a 6.6" circumference, it adds a distinctive pop of color without the scale of a larger statement cuff.

Individually handmade by artist Holly Anne Mitchell, each bracelet will vary slightly depending upon the newspaper pages used, making every piece truly one of a kind.
