Recycled Newspaper Headlines Statement Cuff Bracelet

The news of the day becomes wearable art in this bold, one-of-a-kind statement bracelet.

Handmade from recycled newspaper news headlines, colorful headline photographs, and black-and-white news images, this dramatic cuff captures fragments of the stories, words, photographs, and moments that fill the printed page.

More than 1,200 individual beads are handmade by me from carefully selected pieces of recycled newspaper. Tiny fragments of headline typography are interspersed with beads made from both colorful and black-and-white photographs, creating an intricate mosaic of words, images, textures, and color. Each bead is then hand-stitched together on comfortable elastic cord to create a flexible bracelet that wraps comfortably around the wrist.

At an impressive 3 inches high, this is a true statement piece. From a distance, the hundreds of tiny beads form a richly textured pattern; up close, individual letters, words, photographs, and bits of newsprint reveal the bracelet's unexpected origins.

And because the newspaper itself is constantly changing, no two bracelets can ever be exactly alike. The particular headlines, photographs, colors, words, and images captured in each bracelet make every piece its own small record of the printed news.
