Recycled Newspaper Comic Strip Statement Necklace

A playful celebration of comics, color, and meticulous craftsmanship, this one-of-a-kind statement necklace transforms recycled newspaper comic strips into a dramatic piece of contemporary wearable art.

Each circular component is created from individual handmade beads fashioned from colorful and black-and-white newspaper comic strips. The tiny beads are carefully hand-stitched around a circular stainless steel bead, creating a series of intricate concentric forms. Flecks of comic-strip colors mingle with fragments of printed words, illustrations, and newsprint, giving the necklace its distinctive texture and character.

The circles vary in size and are arranged in a bold, cascading composition that gives the necklace movement and dimension. Polished stainless steel centers provide a contemporary contrast to the richly detailed recycled newspaper, while the combination of colorful comics and traditional black-and-white newsprint connects the piece unmistakably to its newspaper origins.

Measuring approximately 24" in length and 3.2" at its widest point, this substantial necklace is designed to be a true statement piece. A stainless steel clasp completes the design.

Handmade one bead at a time, this necklace celebrates the transformation at the heart of my work—taking an ordinary, ephemeral material and giving it an entirely new life as art to be worn and treasured.
