Comic Strip Convertible Brooch & Pendant

A favorite face from the funny pages, transformed into one-of-a-kind wearable art.

Handmade from recycled newspaper comic strips, this distinctive piece is designed to be worn two ways—as a brooch or as a pendant slipped onto a necklace.

At the center is the expressive face of a comic-strip character, surrounded by an intricate composition of handmade newspaper beads. Black-and-white fragments of comic illustrations are interspersed with flashes of colorful comic-strip imagery, creating a richly textured frame around the central character.

Each tiny paper bead is individually handmade and stitched into place, allowing the original newspaper to take on an entirely new form. Look closely and you'll discover bits of illustrations, halftone patterns, lines, colors and other tiny remnants of the funny pages woven throughout the design.

And perhaps the most delightful part: each piece is unique. Different comic characters are selected for the center, and the surrounding newspaper fragments naturally vary from one piece to another. The pendant you receive will have its own character, colors and composition—no two are exactly alike.

Measuring approximately 3" long × 2.5" wide, the piece makes a wonderful statement without being overly heavy. Pin it to a jacket, dress or scarf as a brooch, or slide it onto a necklace and wear it as a pendant.
